(Sheridan, Wyo) J.J. Harrison was in top form tonight, leaping unexpectedly over the railing into the audience right at the beginning of the rodeo. “Can I get a medic right up here in the audience?” he asked over his microphone that he usually uses to tell jokes. After a short while, the EMTs helped the heat-stroked woman walk down to get a drink of water. Harrison used the chance to remind everyone to stay hydrated…and crack jokes about taking her out for a drink later.
The pre-show had just ended, an exciting performance by the Cheyenne Dandies, “good-will ambassadors” for Cheyenne Frontier Days. The high-speed maneuvers of horses and women weaving within inches of one another were flawlessly executed. The cannon had announced 7:00 pm and retired Army Golden Knight Dana Bowman had delivered the flag in impeccable style. Danielle Law had sung our anthem beautifully. Now it was time for the World Championship Indian Relay Races and an entire evening of Sheridan WYO Rodeo!
